On-Demand SaaS On Sale At The Jamcracker WebStore
6 February 2008 TelecomWeb News Break: Jamcracker WebStores, developed by the Jamcracker Services Delivery Network, now provides a front- and back-end services delivery infrastructure along with billing and settlement as well as customer administration and support for Software as a Service (SaaS) products from the likes of Microsoft, WebEx, McAfee and others. Jamcracker WebStores reportedly enables traditional channel service providers to add on-demand applications to their existing software, hardware and services portfolios. According to Jamcracker, its on-demand distribution and support services are used by many of the world's largest telcos to deliver value-added services to their customers. WebStores now make this same distribution infrastructure, capabilities, and services available to value-added resellers (VARs), managed service providers and Web- hosting providers.
"While the traditional software delivery model is being supplemented by on-demand services, the need for a value-added delivery channel, especially in the small-medium business market, is not going away," says Steve Hilton, vice president of research firm Yankee Group. "Resellers, integrators and other providers who have established trusted advisory relationships with their business customers are in an ideal position to monetize the fundamental shift in how value is delivered to end customers in the on-demand market."
Adds Steve Crawford, Jamcracker's vice president/marketing, "Businesses want to purchase application services in the same manner they purchase traditional IT products -- from a trusted source who understands their business needs and can deliver the appropriate solutions, services and support. Jamcracker WebStores allow resellers to quickly and easily capitalize on the equity they have earned selling traditional software, hardware and integration services and grow customer loyalty and revenues with subscription-based offerings."
The company says its WebStores combines all the technology, content and business-process components required for resellers to provide "seamless and unified services delivery" and support for their customers, including:
- Reseller-branded e-commerce services store fronts;
- Automated billing and settlement for reselling subscription-based services;
- Level 1 and Level 2 customer support services for all end-user SaaS applications;
- A channel-innovation portal that offers sales training, channel support and programs delivered via a community-driven forum for sharing best practices in SaaS sales and marketing;
- Reseller-branded collateral for all SaaS application services; and
- Jamcracker master distribution agreements with leading SaaS providers
Optional components include reseller-branded Level 1 and Level 2 customer support as well as branded billing services.
"Our expertise is managing IT infrastructures for small and mid-sized businesses, but since customers need to purchase core software applications like desktop security, e-mail, collaboration, etc., they naturally turn to us for help in acquiring the right products," says Josh Granof, president of RightHand I.T. Solutions, a managed-services provider. "The Jamcracker WebStore enables us to satisfy customer needs we are not currently addressing and substantially increase our revenues, without making any major capital or technology investments. With very little effort, our WebStore is allowing us to rapidly build a profitable new branch off our core business."
The following applications from the Jamcracker Services Delivery Network catalog are available for resale individually or as bundles through reseller- branded WebStores:
- WebEx conferencing,
- WebOffice collaboration suite,
- Hosted Microsoft Exchange,
- BlackBerry and Goodlink wireless messaging,
- Microsoft SharePoint,
- McAfee Total Protection for Small Business,
- Arsenal online data backup,
- PC Tune-Up and
- BackOffice solution bundles.
In addition, WebStore-based resellers soon will be able to offer Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Office Communications Services, which TelecomWeb news break thinks is key.
